Frequently Asked Questions

What is integrative psychotherapy?

Integrative psychotherapy combines approaches and methods from different schools of psychotherapy. It focuses on the factors that research has shown to be most effective in supporting positive therapeutic outcomes. These include a strong therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, increased self-understanding, and corrective emotional experiences that take place during therapy. The therapeutic approach is tailored flexibly to your individual needs, goals and life situation.

In addition to being a psychotherapist, you are also a theologian. How does that influence your work?

As a psychotherapist, I work in accordance with my psychotherapy training and the ethical principles of healthcare. I hope that my background is reflected above all in my ability to offer a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. If you have religious or existential questions on your mind, I also have experience working with these topics and can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your situation.

What kind of clients do you work with?

My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and I enjoy working with people of all ages, regardless of their diagnosis or life circumstances. Everyone is welcome just as they are. The most important thing is that we are able to build a good therapeutic relationship together.

What happens during the first session?

During our first meeting, we will discuss your current situation, what has brought you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve. You will also have the opportunity to consider whether working with me feels like the right fit for you. The first session does not commit you to continuing therapy. The session is charged according to the current fee schedule.

Is online therapy available?

Yes. Online psychotherapy is an effective form of treatment. You can attend sessions either in person at my practice in Lohja or online via Microsoft Teams. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and convenience of online sessions. We often begin with an in-person meeting and, if appropriate, continue online.

How often do clients usually attend therapy?

Weekly sessions are the most common, but the frequency depends on your individual situation, goals and life circumstances.

How is psychotherapy different from coaching?

Psychotherapy helps you understand and work through psychological distress, symptoms and life challenges. Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on achieving goals, strengthening personal resources and supporting future-oriented growth. As a healthcare service, psychotherapy sessions are dokumentin in the Finnish OmaKanta health records system, whereas coaching is not subject to this requirement.

Why should I choose you as my therapist?

I have been working with clients in private practice since 2015. My approach is characterised by calmness, respect and a genuine interest in understanding your experiences and perspective.
